Recently, within the framework of the project Widening the approach to One Health in Kazakhstan and its potential to combat resistance to antimicrobial drugs and zoonotic diseases FAO animal health specialist Artem Metlin made a visit. During the visit, two veterinary laboratories were evaluated: the RGP at the PCV National Reference Centre for Veterinary Medicine in Astana and the South Kazakhstan branch of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory in Shymkent.
The group of experts who visited the laboratory included Taskyn Serikovych Кызайбаев (FAO expert), Artem Yevgenyevich Metlin (FAO animal health officer) and Chariphan Duria (MEB expert).
In Shymkent, a meeting was held with the director of the South Kazakhstan branch of the RVL, during which the results of LMT assessments were considered. A visit to the laboratory was also organized, where specialists were able to get acquainted with its activities and working conditions in detail.
Among them, work was planned to address the identified gaps in the South Kazakhstan branch of the RVL, which will contribute to improving the quality of veterinary services and effectively combating resistance to antimicrobial drugs and zoonotic diseases in the region.
