Questions of digitization and control over computer equipment in RVL branches
What characteristics should be used to evaluate the performance of computer equipment?
A new computer or an old one?
Effective or ineffective?
According to the head of the IT department, there are 1702 computers in the enterprise, many of which are outdated. At the same time, according to the head of the department: about 800 active users in the enterprise. How does it turn out that the number of employees is twice as small as the number of technicians?
To this question, the head of the department replied: It’s a lot, but it’s important to note that some computers are probably not yet written off and are in preservation.
The director general of the RAF, Temirhan Elshibayev, suggested that the situation be addressed as follows.
You have to have a clear vision and understanding of what the IT department exists for and what it does. I have a clear understanding of where there is order and discipline, where there is understanding where we are moving and if you keep order, order will definitely save you. The Director General recommended asking for information by volume and dividing it into two categories: regional branches and district branches to understand what load there is per staff unit and, accordingly, the need to use the IT unit. For example, there should be 1C in a branch, Document Lab, etc. This digitization helps to narrow it down or not, I need to understand whether it can be labor-intensive for an employee, and it seems that the initial digitization is not delivered efficiently to the new computer, but I said that this is the minimum requirement for a branch of Microsoft to understand how to work.
You need to dive into all the key indicators in your direction to clearly understand if you need to replace a computer or a piece of equipment that has faithfully and truthfully served its useful life, but that maintains its functionality and meets the requirements. I don’t think it makes sense to buy the same piece of equipment and spend the budget on it.
The head of the IT department said that the regional branches do not provide data on the equipment used, so it is difficult to draw a real picture.
We don’t know the actual number of computers available, there’s only a number that’s shown by the 1C accounting data.
The Director-General of the RVL replied that this situation does not correspond to current trends and it will be difficult and painful to implement digitization. As the interaction of the Central Authority with regional branches is low, the work on the ground is incorrect, the control is weak, – said Temirhan Elshibayev.
In this regard, it was instructed to urgently and in detail deal with the situation, providing up-to-date information on the existing organ technology in the regional and regional branches.
