As part of a working visit to the North Kazakhstan Region, Temirkhan Amantayevich Yelshibayev, Director General of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory, met with Marat Imanbayevich Tasmaganbetov, Deputy Akim of the North Kazakhstan Region.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues related to the development of the region’s veterinary laboratory service, including prospects for upgrading its material and technical facilities and improving the infrastructure of the regional branch of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory.

Particular attention was paid to the condition of the branch’s current building, which has been in use since the Soviet era and has significant physical deterioration. Some premises require major repairs and additional technical assessment.

During the discussion, the Deputy Akim proposed considering several possible solutions, including relocating the laboratory to other buildings. For its part, the Republican Veterinary Laboratory will continue to assess the proposed options, taking into account the requirements for laboratory operations, biological safety, and the functional suitability of the premises.

In addition, the technical condition of the existing building is to be assessed with the involvement of relevant specialists to determine whether it can be restored and what engineering and structural reinforcement works may be required.

The North Kazakhstan Region plays a significant role in the country’s agro-industrial complex. The region has 293,700 head of cattle, 398,000 sheep, 147,900 horses, 179,100 pigs and 3.8 million poultry. From January to August 2026, the region produced 52,700 tonnes of meat in live weight, 282,800 tonnes of milk and 456.7 million eggs.

The development of livestock farming, increased production volumes and the expansion of the region’s export potential require reliable and modern veterinary laboratory infrastructure capable of ensuring the timely diagnosis of particularly dangerous animal diseases and monitoring the safety of products of animal origin.

Following the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and further consideration of possible solutions aimed at strengthening the material and technical capacity of the veterinary laboratory service in the North Kazakhstan Region.
