With the support of General Director T.A. Elshibayev, on February 12, 2026, at the RGP at the PHI Republican Veterinary Laboratory, a working meeting of the representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and international consultant on veterinary epidemiology Javier Guitián with representatives of the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee T.S. Кызайбаев.The meeting was also attended by the head of the Veterinary Control and Circulation of Veterinary Drugs Office L.S. Ansabayeva, representatives of the National Reference Center for Veterinary Medicine and the Republican Anti-Epizootic Troop.

During the meeting , General Director T.A. Elshibayev presented a presentation on the role and activities of the RVL in supporting the development of veterinary service and ensuring a stable episodic situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan .

Within the framework of the agenda, issues of the current structure of the epidemiological surveillance system and the flow of information from the field level to laboratories and central bodies with subsequent feedback were considered. Particular attention was paid to the conclusions of the evaluation of the epidemiological surveillance system (SET) and recommendations on improving the training of personnel in veterinary universities, including the development of competencies in analytical epidemiology, risk analysis, investigation and response to outbreaks of diseases, as well as biosecurity.

In addition, the needs of veterinary services in reforming educational programs and increasing the potential of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory with the participation of specialized universities were identified.

The meeting was an important step in strengthening international cooperation and further improving the veterinary surveillance system of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
