Kazakhstan is celebrating Livestock Day! Livestock is one of the key industries of the country’s agro-industrial complex, providing more than 49% of the gross agricultural product. This indicator testifies to the industry’s steady development and its importance for food security and economic prosperity.
Thanks to state support and the hard work of specialists over the past five years, self-sufficiency in beef, lamb, horse and egg has been achieved, while import dependence on poultry meat has decreased from 51% to 27%.
In 2023, 22 dairy farms with a capacity of 30,8 thousand tons of milk, 4 poultry factories with a capacity of 86,5 thousand tons of poultry meat per year were put into operation.
This model is based on the tradition of nomadic herding and Kazakhstan’s competitive advantages: 180 million hectares of pastures, 3.8 million people of able-bodied rural population, proximity to growing markets with a total import of more than 2 million tons of meat per year, developed plant breeding with potential for a feed base.
Veterinarians Day is a celebration of the achievements of those who every day make a significant contribution to the development of the country’s agro-industrial complex and economy. May this day be filled with pride for the achievements and faith in the bright future of the industry.
