In the framework of working on the possible amendments to the Technical Regulation of the Customs Union O safety of meat and meat products, which is in force within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), on 20 February 2026 a panel session was held on the basis of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory on the application of the methodology of qualitative and semi-quantitative assessment of the content of meat ingredients of chickens (Gallus gallus) and CCS (Bovinae) in meat products by the method of polymerase chain reaction in real time.
The panel session was moderated by the General Director of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory Elshibayev Temirhan Amantayevich with the participation of RVL specialists, leading experts from the Russian Federation, as well as representatives of state bodies and business of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The offline format was attended by representatives of the V.M. Gorbatov Food Systems Center (Moscow) and the S.L.A. of Syntol (Moscow), who presented the methodology of applying sets of reagents Gallus gallus Ident RT semi-Quant and Bovinae Ident RT semi-Quant, demonstrated the practical aspects of conducting research and the results of performed analyses.
In the online format, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, representatives of the Technical Regulation and Metrology Committee of the MTI, representatives of the Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology, the NPP Atameken, the TLC Kubly, as well as experts of relevant departments joined the discussion.
During the first stage of the meeting, scientific and methodological approaches to the species identification of meat ingredients were presented, the possibilities of qualitative and semi-quantitative evaluation of the content of chicken and beef in products (except canned ones) were discussed, as well as the prospects of applying molecular-genetic control methods in laboratory practice.
In the second part of the panel session , there was a substantive discussion of key issues:
- expanding the field of accreditation of laboratories by indicators of species identification;
- ensuring laboratories with standard samples and reference materials , taking into account the requirements of the State measurement system;
- organization of monitoring of meat products in a volume of at least 100 samples to form a representative market overview and scientific justification of allowable levels of impurities.
The Republican Veterinary Laboratory reaffirmed its readiness to extend the use of molecular-genetic methods when there are normative grounds and officially approved methods, and also expressed its readiness to monitor meat products in accordance with the established procedures.
The panel session strengthened the interaction between scientific organizations, manufacturing enterprises, regulatory bodies and the laboratory community, confirming the systematic approach to ensuring the quality and safety of meat products of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
