From January 4, 1949 to March 1978, the Kokshetau Regional Veterinary Bacteriological Laboratory was officially established, becoming the historical foundation of the modern branch.
1980–1990
The institution underwent a series of structural changes and name changes, evolving from a regional veterinary laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture into regional departmental units, while gradually expanding the scope of diagnostic testing of farm animals.
2001–2005
The branch became part of the Central Veterinary Laboratory of the MoA of the RK and was subsequently transformed into a regional branch of the newly established RSE on the REM “Republican Veterinary Laboratory.” During this period, a strong material and technical base and a network of district units were established.
2009–2012
Pursuant to Resolution No. 1908 of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 21, 2009, the branch was finally established in its current legal status as part of the unified national network. In 2012, the institution moved into a specialized three-storey building equipped with 24-hour security, access control, and video surveillance systems.
The 2010s
The laboratories were actively equipped with advanced instruments. High-precision diagnostic methods, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), as well as advanced bacteriological and virological testing, were introduced into practical operations.
2021–2024
The workforce was strengthened, with more than 90% of employees holding higher specialized education. The network of district veterinary and sanitary examination laboratories and mobile units for on-site examination at fairs was developed. Employees undergo international internships, including under the “Bolashak” program, and receive departmental awards from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2025
In September, the National Accreditation Center (NCA) conducted an assessment procedure, and on December 11, 2025, a new Accreditation Certificate confirming compliance with GOST ISO/IEC 17025-2019 was obtained. Significant growth in performance indicators was recorded: the volume of paid diagnostic services increased by 54%, while revenue from food safety control increased by 9.8% compared with the previous year. Ceremonial retirement events were held for industry veterans, including Zauresh Tolegenovna Iskakova.

The staff, comprising 76.5 positions, provides laboratory support for anti-epizootic measures, monitoring of particularly dangerous diseases, and quality control of raw materials in Kokshetau, Stepnogorsk, and 10 districts of the Akmola Region, ensuring reliable protection of the region’s epizootic well-being.
