History

The history of the branch dates back to the activities of the Ust-Kamenogorsk City Veterinary Station, which became the foundation for the future regional laboratory service.

January 2003

The institution underwent its first official state registration as the East Kazakhstan Regional Branch of the Republican State Treasury Enterprise “Republican Veterinary Laboratory” under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2005, the laboratory successfully underwent accreditation for compliance with the international ISO/IEC 17025 standard for the first time.

2008

The branch was transferred under the authority of the Committee for State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

November 2009

The institution was reorganized into a branch of the Republican State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management “Republican Veterinary Laboratory” under the Committee for State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex.

2010–2012

New modular laboratories, including the Zaysan District Veterinary Laboratory, were commissioned, and a building was acquired for the Kurchum District Veterinary Laboratory. All district units obtained official permits to work with microorganisms belonging to pathogenicity groups II–IV.

May 2012

The branch was renamed the East Kazakhstan Regional Branch of the Republican State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management “Republican Veterinary Laboratory” under the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2025

Under an intergovernmental agreement, the central laboratory in Ust-Kamenogorsk received 99 units of state-of-the-art high-precision equipment and furniture worth KZT 840 million. The equipment included digital microscopes, chromatographs, and instruments for ELISA and PCR testing. This increased the laboratory’s capacity to up to 550,000 tests per year and helped eliminate technical barriers to the export of agricultural products.

April 2026

Following a successful inspection, an updated accreditation certificate was obtained. The branch continues to maintain a high level of epizootic well-being and food safety in the region.
