History

October 15, 1928

By decision of the District Land Administration, a veterinary bacteriological office was established in Guryev, becoming one of the oldest laboratory centers in the republic.

1936–1958

Guryev District Veterinary Bacteriological Laboratory (the first two-storey building was constructed in 1939).

1950–1970s

Active scientific research was conducted on the development of biostimulants and sera. Since 1958, ichthyopathology, radiology, virology, epizootology, and parasitology departments have been established.

1977–1982

Large-scale field testing of millions of samples was carried out, along with livestock health improvement measures to control brucellosis on pastures.

1988–1991

Guryev Regional Veterinary Laboratory. In 1989, the branch moved to a new five-storey building, which remains in operation to this day.

1991–2000

Republican State Enterprise “Regional Veterinary Laboratory” of the “Veterinary Medicine” Association of the Atyrau Region.

2000–2008

The institution became part of the republican enterprises (Republican State Treasury Enterprise “RVL” under the MoA of the RK; since 2002/2008, under the authority of the CSI in the Agro-Industrial Complex).

2003

The testing laboratory received its first official accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

2009–2011

Atyrau Regional Branch of the RSE on the REM “RVL” under the CSI in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the MoA of the RK.

2009–2011

The institution was reorganized into the Atyrau Regional Branch of the RSE on the REM “RVL” under the CSI in the Agro-Industrial Complex.

Since 2011

It was renamed the Atyrau Regional Branch of the RSE on the REM “Republican Veterinary Laboratory” under the CVCS of the MoA of the RK.

2009–2012

Advanced methods were introduced, including PCR diagnostics (since 2009, and in real-time mode since 2012) and ELISA (since 2010).

2014

In 2014, five of the six district laboratories — Zhylyoi, Inder, Isatay, Kyzylkoga, and Makhambet — were relocated to new modular buildings.

2021

In 2021, the Balkuduk Zonal Laboratory was opened to serve remote areas.

February 2026

The branch successfully completed the inspection control procedures, and a valid accreditation certificate was issued on February 2, 2026. Today, the branch represents a strong structure providing comprehensive control over food safety and the epizootic well-being of the region.
